The day begins with pickup around 08:30 (depending on your location), heading towards the inland region of Apokoronas, an area known for its greenery, traditional villages and strong cultural identity.
Your first stop is Aptera, where you are welcomed with panoramic views over Souda Bay. This elevated viewpoint offers a striking introduction to the landscape, combining history with a sense of openness and calm.
The journey continues to Vryses, a lush village often considered a hub of local production. Here, you will experience the authentic processes behind traditional cheese-making and olive oil production, gaining insight into two of the most essential elements of Cretan gastronomy. Tasting local products allows you to connect directly with the flavors of the region.
In the historic village of Vamos, the experience shifts towards heritage and hospitality. Walking through its streets, you will visit a local monastery and experience a traditional Cretan welcome, including raki, paximadi and olives- simple yet deeply rooted elements of local culture.
Returning to Vryses, the pace slows down under the shade of plane trees. At a local café, you will enjoy Greek coffee prepared in the traditional way, accompanied by Sfakian pie, a delicate and distinctive local sweet.
The final stop takes place in the village of Maza. Here, you will visit a historic Byzantine church before concluding the experience at a local tavern, where traditional kalitsounakia (sweet cheese pastries) are served, offering a warm and authentic ending to the day.
